Playa Ocotal is the gateway to the Gulf of Papagayo.  It is a small town just 3 km south of La Playa de Coco and 40 km west of Liberia on the Pacific coast north of Costa Rica. The beach, protected by cliffs of metamorphic rock over 80 million years old, is a beautiful vista of white sand marred by jagged rocks. The sea air is tinged with slight haze comprised of negatively charged ions that healers believe produce beneficial effects upon people, animals, and plants alike.

The small beach is one of the best areas for snorkeling and diving in the region, and divers will witness scores of beautiful tropical fish, with a bit of luck, a giant manta ray or two.
